About Me
So, what is Yearly Lesson anyway? I got the idea for this web site from a friend of mine who lives on the other side of the country. He lives in Portland with the other hippies and every year he picks something new to learn. He spends that year learning as much about a topic as he can in his free time. One year it was the Vietnam war, another year it was the economy and another year it was lock picking. By Christmas time each year, he had a much better understanding on a topic he was interested in. I was always fascinated by the concept but it took me awhile to take that idea and make it my own.
Until now! Introducing YearlyLesson.com, my take on my friends concept. I am going to do it based on my birthday instead of a calender year. My birthday is August 30th. Every year on August 30th I will announce that years lesson. I will do my best to immerse myself in that topic and become as much of an expert as one can be after studying a topic for a year. I am going to set goals for myself, something to work towards, something to accomplish. In addition, I will blog about it and do my best to write about the things I am learning. Hopefully, people will find it interesting enough to join me each year in my year of learning.

Year 1 – My Year of Beer
Well, I had to go with something fun, something I already had an interest in but wanted to know a lot more about. This year is My Year of Beer! That’s right, an entire year learning about beer. What better excuse to drink more beer in a year than most people would consider healthy. It’s all in the name of knowledge! At least, I now have the perfect excuse to tell people it’s all in the name of knowledge. You can read more about this first year at My Year of Beer
