Appalachian Brewing Company Brews a Rauchbock

rauchbock3Appalachian Brewing Company is one of our favorite local breweries.  It was part of our whirlwind tour of Central PA Breweries that we did a few weeks back.    They are only an hour or so away from us but until we toured their brewery I had never actually had any of their beer.  What I had from them was very good.  I intend on trying and reviewing as much of their beer as I can get my  hands on.

They have announced the release of a new beer, I believe it’s going to be a seasonal beer but I am not certain of that.  It’s a Rauchbock made from smoked malt from Bamberg, Germany.  In a recent email from them they say “The malts are kilned over aged beechwood chips which gives this deep copper ale a mellow smoky flavor”.

The beer is being released on 9/17/09 at 5:00 PM.  I may have to take a trip this weekend and pick some up.
